Write the information a shopper would miss.

A front view, a clasp close-up and a decorative campaign background do different jobs. Decide what each image contributes in its actual page context, then write the text alternative for that job.

Start from the image role.

This diagram describes decisions, not a generated product. The draft builder below helps record context; it cannot inspect a photo or certify accessibility.

Three image roles: informative product detail, functional linked card and decorative background, each leading to a different text-alternative decision
Editorial conceptOriginal teaching diagram. It is not a generated product image, a customer example, or a measured test result.

This image is an editorial concept made for the site. It is not a Fayvoro generation or customer result. AI can change product shape, color, packaging, labels, and text. Check every important detail against the real item.

02 / A PRACTICAL WORKFLOWSTART WITH YOUR PHOTO
01

Read the surrounding page before drafting

Inspect the product title, selected variant, caption and the action attached to the image. W3C distinguishes informative images, functional images and decoration. Apply that distinction to the actual rendered element: a photograph inside a product link may need to communicate the link’s destination, while a standalone detail photo needs its useful visual information.

Do not label every lifestyle photograph decorative simply because it is attractive. If it shows where a handle attaches or the visible contents of a bundle, it may communicate information the adjacent text does not. Conversely, an image that repeats the nearby information may need an empty alternative, depending on its context.

02

Describe this view, not the entire catalog

For an informative image, name the product briefly and add the detail the view reveals. An illustrative draft such as “Blue ceramic mug, handle and glazed interior visible” is more useful than a list of search phrases. Check color and material against the SKU; the draft is not evidence that this mug exists.

Keep different views meaningfully different: “rear zipper pocket open” and “strap attachment close-up” identify information, while “image 2” and “best leather bag online” do not. Do not infer dimensions, performance or material authenticity from pixels. Put essential specifications in the actual product description as well.

03

Check the element in its live context

Use your store’s image or theme editor to save the approved alternative, then inspect the rendered page. A field in an admin form is not proof that a theme uses it. Keyboard navigation can help reveal whether a linked card has a clear purpose, and a screen reader or an accessibility reviewer can assess the surrounding experience.

Fayvoro creates scene candidates; it does not write or install alt text in your storefront. If a generated image is included, describe what it actually shows and disclose its origin where that matters to shoppers. Do not make the alternative assert product accuracy that has not been checked.

Practical decision worksheet

Choose the alternative for the actual element

These are context examples, not universal strings to paste into every product image.

Need or findingNext actionEvidence to check
Informative clasp detailDescribe the clasp or attachment the view reveals. The detail is visible and agrees with the real SKU.
Product card that is only an image linkCommunicate the product destination or action. The link has a clear accessible purpose in the rendered theme.
Purely decorative backgroundUse an empty alternative when it conveys no information or function.Removing the image would not remove useful content.
Important text only inside an imageProvide the necessary text equivalent in the appropriate context.Information is available without having to see the graphic.
This draft stays in this page while it is open. It does not inspect an image, install alt text or certify accessibility.

Use the worksheet in your existing capture, editing or storefront workflow. Fayvoro’s scene studio is a separate optional step and does not perform the editing or platform actions described here.

Direction to try

A useful starting note.

Use this as a starting point, then adjust it for your own product. No prompt can guarantee exact product details.

Create a calm secondary scene from my real product photo with the whole item visible. I will inspect the actual result, choose its page role, and write a text alternative for the information or function it provides.
Before you publish

Check the details.

  • The rendered image role and surrounding text are reviewed.
  • The alternative describes useful visible detail or the link action.
  • Claims and selected variant match the actual product.
  • The saved value is verified on the storefront, with an accessibility review when needed.
Common questions

A few things to know.

Should I repeat my main keyword in every image?

No. Describe each image’s information and context naturally. Repeating phrases that do not explain the view makes the alternative harder to use.

Can an important product photo have empty alt text?

The correct alternative depends on context, including nearby equivalent text and any link function. Follow W3C’s decision tree rather than treating all product photos the same way.

Does this builder analyze or save my photographs?

No. It makes a text draft from the fields you enter. Copy and review it in your own storefront workflow.
